Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy: From Case Conceptualization to Play-Based Change
Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) integrates the principles and interventions of cognitive behavioral therapy with developmentally appropriate play-based methods for working with children. Participants will receive a brief introduction to the history and foundational principles of CBT and CBPT, with an emphasis on applying the model throughout the stages of treatment. Participants will learn to assess presenting concerns and target behaviors, develop a cognitive-behavioral case conceptualization and measurable treatment plan, and select play-based cognitive and behavioral interventions...Read more based on treatment goals and the child’s developmental needs. The training will emphasize practical application of CBPT interventions across assessment, preparation for active therapy, active change, generalization, relapse prevention, and termination.
